Buena Vista All Stars presents 'Havana Nights' to the cultured audience at the Auditorium

Buena Vista All Stars is a timeless combo of Afro-Cuban nostalgia that closes a major world tour tonight at the National Auditorium.

It's an original, independent band that brings together great Cuban musicians, including some original members of Buena Vista Social Club.

We're not a continuation of that extraordinary group; we agree that we respect the repertoire they worked on and that we're performing traditional themes from our music—both Cuban and Mexican—but I think we have our own way of doing it, and you'll notice it. We hope that the people who come to the Auditorium have the same great time we did: a great time.

The commentator for  La Jornada  is Demetrio Muñiz, director of the Buena Vista All Stars, who is considered one of Cuba's most important arrangers. He is the winner of two US Grammys and one Latin Grammy.
